BORROW ME A BOOK

Since the publications of an influential study by the World Bank, textbooks have been considered as a key vehicle to achieving quality education in many countries. However, textbooks are not only mediums of knowledge, they participate in the circulation of specific values such as foreign policy.

Books in our life are more importance that play a quintessential role in every student’s life by introducing them to a world of imagination, providing knowledge of the outside world, improving their reading, writing and speaking skills as well as boosting memory and intelligence. The importance of books in our life cannot be undermined for they not only help in broadening our horizons but also act as doorways to connecting us with the world around us. They function as survival kits, they influence us and leave an impact on us.

Books are packed with knowledge, they give you life lessons, and they teach you about hardships, love, fear, and every little thing that is a part of life. Books have been here for centuries and contain the knowledge of our past, civilizations, and cultures.

Textbooks are a rareity in Tanzanian classrooms. Think back to your days in school and try to imagine learning new subjects without textbooks, talk about challenging! Tanzanian teachers have been incredibly creative and resourceful to teach their lessons without physical books.

Without text books, teachers struggle to teach the necessary information for students to learn school subjects. Textbooks allow students not only see the information on the chalk board, but also see photos and find classroom activities designed for specific subjects and grade levels! Books allow children to re-examine the course content after the teacher has taught on the subject. Many students, as in all countries, often need time to study content multiple times to fully understand and textbooks make this possible.

Therefore Ramat Tanzania through BORROW ME A BOOK is expecting to contribute the books of all kinds including text books, story books etc. We are also expecting to enable at least one school both primary, secondary and high school in every district in Arusha to have a modern library which will have both digital and normal books. We are expecting to work closely with government, education stakeholders, government institutions, regional institutions, international institutions and individual who are interesting in contributing monetary fund, kindle, tablets and computers to support this project. I hope you will join us in shaping back our Tanzanian students knowledge through your contributions.
